One of the most potent challenges that large banks are currently facing is to transform their 20-30 years old monolithic infrastructures to up to date technologies.
Innovance having tackled various challenges in different engagements was able to provide guidance & front-lines expertise to achieve necessary transformation for its client.
The Swing-based frontend application running Java 1.6 in Credit Europe Russia has been upgraded to a version that runs Java 1.8 and included new features. The most important purpose of this transition was to update the Java versions installed on the user computers regarding security policies. During the frontend migration, some improvements were made so that the new applications would run in parallel with the old application. Fixed key findings related to asynchronous operations and character encoding that were previously found in the new application package and detected during migration.
Updates has made so that Java Network Launch Protocol (JNLP), which is used for the installation of the application, can work smoothly with the Java 1.8 version.
An update was also made in the layer called Presentation Logic Manager (PLM) to be able to switch the faceplate. This layer was placed between the frontend and application servers and holds session information. Updates were made to the database structure and Websphere application server configurations to enable PLM to survive. Important improvements were made, such as the use of a common cache manager structure, so that PLM can run simultaneously with existing servers. Some features have also been added so that this layer can work in integration with external systems such as batch and service bus.

This particular approach by Innovance’s management & top experts provided a viable option to any bank with proven operations to upgrade their backend systems. Innovance by thoroughly analyzing the pain points of its banking client was able to offer the most viable & cost-effective solution.
